Hello, my name is Andy Atkinson, I ran a KFC business for 25 years in Blackpool. In 2013 I sold the business and decided to do something else – something that had brought real results for my KFC business – Leaflet drops!
Yes, as amazing as it sounds the best pound for pound response I achieved from all marketing was my leaflets drops, so I decided to run a business doing just that.
But there is a knack to it. I will show you some of those ways here - but realistically we need to talk to you about your business and what you want to achieve – so without having to read any more, here is my mobile number, give me a call! Andy Atkinson on 07768 833 472
This website aims to answer all your questions about how to do a successful leaflet drop on the Fylde (I can cover further afield for you but that is covered in a different section click here to go to that section)
To try to make it simple I have split the website into various sections covering the most common things I get asked. You can skip to the section you want - by clicking on the relevant question - but I hope you will invest 5 minutes reading it all as there are some vital elements to creating a successful leaflet drop.
We offer two different types of leaflet drop
Now, before we move on, I need to explain both options as they cost different amounts.
Option 1 – Hand delivery by our own teams. This is the traditional method and one which most people think of when they think of leaflet drops. Interestingly, it is not my favourite but due to demand I have built up a small team of reliable deliverers and we cover most but not all the Fylde Coast as some parts are difficult to reach in the more rural areas.
Option 2 – Shared delivery using Royal Mail. This is my favourite as it is the one which achieved by far the best results for my KFC business. It is also cheaper because as the name suggests the costs are shared.

Prices shown for both options are illustrative and are for single leaflets up to A4, paper weight up to 150g
We would be very happy to discuss with you prices for other items eg booklets - please contact us.
Prices are set based on how much it costs, the shared Royal Mail cost works out cheaper because we can carry more leaflets by that method.
Like all businesses the more you buy the cheaper it becomes.
Prices vary depending how many you want and the size. Here are some basic costs.

Our hand delivery teams are out all the time and we cover the areas where we have most orders. Our shared mailings are done on a specific cycle - contact us for more details. (Please book these in plenty of time - at least 1 month before is recommended)
We are registered Royal Mail resellers and have access to Royal Mails latest household count. New properties are built every month and Royal Mail updates these figures regularly so we have the most up to date information of any delivery company in the country.
We have been using Royal Mail (option 2) for 20 years and in that time have had only 1 instance where we have had to check back. Royal Mail have a robust system and the delivery managers will investigate if there is any problem.
As far as our hand delivery teams are concerned, we don’t use GPS tracking, I have tried that and 2 other tracking options and all have proved unreliable or inaccurate, and there is no guarantee of success with that option.
I decided on a different approach! I have a team of ‘SPOTTERS’. These ‘SPOTTERS’ are just ordinary homeowners who we notify when they are due to receive a leaflet and they tell us when it is delivered.
Our deliverers have no idea where these spotters are, and they are dotted about all over the Fylde. My business partner has been involved with leaflet delivery for 40 years and has found this to be the most reliable method by far.
Yes please! We have our own in-house design team with over 20 years’ experience in designing leaflets which work. The content of your leaflet is critical to your success, so we want to help and include design in the price for printing! – there is no extra charge for design.
There is much rubbish spoken about response to direct mail or direct response advertising. The key point is response and leaflet drops are one of the best marketing tools to measure in your marketing plan.
It is worth remembering that ‘more people eat chicken than buy garage doors in a week, so response levels are BOUND to vary. What actually matters is return on investment.
If you are not sure how to work that out then we can help but broadly you multiply the value of a customer by the number of responses, if you are not sure please ask – it is important you do this with all your advertising.
And yes, the offer does make a difference, so if your leaflet drops didn’t work before it could be that your offer was not strong enough or, a competitor had a stronger offer.
My advice is always do your strongest offer (depending on what your objective is).
Yes, we will help talk you through your objective and the best way to get the results you want. Our team has over 50 years’ experience and we can help you create great headlines and compelling offers that will appeal to your target audience.
Yes, as mentioned previously we have loads of experience and want you to get the best response. Most of our customers keep coming back and one reason is the help we constantly offer. We have worked for 3 advertising agencies on 3 different continents and bring a wealth of marketing examples as well as the 20 plus years I spent on KFC’s Advertising Board.
Our shared mailings are popular because of the cost and we have also introduced an option where you can take one side and we will get another company for the reverse – so you pay for one side only and they pay for the other.
This means that you can get one side of an A5 leaflet printed and delivered to 10,000 homes for just £325 and this drops to £275 when you buy three (30,000 homes over a 3-month period).
For most businesses this offers an exceptional return on investment and by far our best offer.
